about
Black Parade originally released on the album "Break From This World". The tragic killing of Mahsa Amini and the subsequent murders of dozens of peaceful protestors and ordinary citizens in Iran inspired a revisit to this track and a new master version for 2022. In honor of all those oppressed in Iran who simply wish to lead a life chosen of their own free will.
lyrics
Black Parade (with English translation)
Now have we seen this light for the last time
They’re turning back the clock and we won’t survive
On just hope this time
They slowly break us down from the inside
And force a way of life we don’t recognize
And free will has died
We take our breath for the last time
We’ll give it one more cry before they
Burn a hole in our hearts again
We saw it coming, this Black Parade
When will it end
Oh, you and I both know, this Black Parade
On fear depends
We can fight it but we can’t pretend
Khaste nasho, parvaz kon
(Don’t get tired, fly)
Ey khaste mooned too ghafas
(hey, the tired one in the cage)
Parvaz kon ta ke manam ba to ham avaz ham nafas
(fly until I sing and breathe with you)
The turbans reign supreme over virtue
You cannot lift your veil or speak the truth
They promise nothing but
Keep that bar held high for you
We saw it coming, this Black Parade
Will forge ahead
Oh, you and I both know, this Black Parade
The demon’s edge
We will fight it with our dying breath
And now they’ve pumped the masses full of rage
We’re going to light some fires
We’re gonna burn the stage
The lightning is coming, the marchers will fall….Fall!
Khaste nasho, khaste nasho, sokooteto faryad kon
(Don’t get tired, don’t get tired, shout loud your silence)
Ta mano dari, khodeto az in ghafas azad kon
(until you’ve got me, free yourself from this cage)
We saw it coming, this Black Parade
Will meet it’s end
Oh, you and I both know, this Black Parade
It’s good as dead
We will fight until the streets turn red
We saw it coming, this Black Parade
Will meet it’s end
Oh, you and I both know, this Black Parade
It’s good as dead
We will fight until the streets turn red
An ambitious pop song cycle about human loneliness and fear, thick with harmonies and buoyed by tight musicianship. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 27, 2018
This is the second in a series of weekly album reviews published by Andrew Dubber. If you haven’t already caught it, please check out his introductory post. The world appears to be littered with bearded young men with acoustic guitars and notebooks full of verse, access to old pianos, and mournful string players. Few have … Continue reading Album of the Week: Fire on the Vine → Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 6, 2011
